Kim is one of the incredible women featured in my 40 Over 40 Project — a portrait experience celebrating women in their 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s and beyond. As a Wenatchee portrait photographer, I created this series to honor real stories, real beauty, and the power that comes with age. The project has been a delight for fans of 40 Over 40 photography in Wenatchee.

A Career of Impact, A Life of Intention

Kim spent over five decades building a career in Human Resources, retiring as a respected Insurance and Benefits Specialist. Her path was filled with challenge and responsibility — especially when she was tasked with overhauling benefits operations for an entire school district. The system was broken. The workload was massive. But Kim didn’t flinch. She led with vision, grit, and heart — serving thousands of employees and creating a system that worked.

That same determination shaped her life outside the office, too. After stepping away from the corporate world, Kim stepped into freedom — embracing a new chapter full of travel, teaching, and intention. As an adjunct faculty member at Wenatchee Valley College, she shares her decades of experience with students just beginning their journeys.

But it was her 40 Over 40 portrait session that captured not just her achievements — but the soul of her story through 40 Over 40 photography Project in Wenatchee.

A Session That Became a Family Legacy

Kim’s session was full of deeply personal touches — including a pocket watch passed down through generations of their family. It once belonged to a grandfather, and it was paired with another heirloom watch that held special meaning. These pieces weren’t just props. They were symbols of time, heritage, and the enduring strength of the Lindgren family.

What made Kim’s session especially powerful wasn’t just her own transformation — it was who she brought with her.

Kim invited her mother — just shy of her 90th birthday — along with her sister (also proudly over 40) to be photographed as part of this unforgettable day. Three strong women. Three generations. One extraordinary bond.

And just when the session couldn’t feel more meaningful, Kim’s brother arrived — surprising their mom and turning the day into a full family celebration. We created individual 40 Over 40 portraits for Kim and her sister, but also something much deeper: a beautiful collection of legacy images honoring their mother.

We captured portraits of each sibling with their mom — moments now frozen in time, full of love, laughter, and connection. These images, already priceless, became even more meaningful just one year later, when Kim’s mother passed away.

Now, those portraits aren’t just photographs — they’re a tribute. A living memory of their mother’s strength, warmth, and the extraordinary love she poured into her children. She now watches over them as their angel, and her legacy lives on in the faces and hearts of the family she raised.

It was a true honor to witness and photograph such an emotional, unforgettable day in my Wenatchee studio.

A Life Well Lived

Looking back, Kim shared that one of her greatest accomplishments was choosing the road less traveled. She and her husband built a life on their own terms — filled with independence, adventure, and purpose. And while she sometimes wonders what life would’ve looked like if she’d started a family earlier, she holds no regrets. Only gratitude.

Her advice for younger women?

“Stay humble. Follow your dreams. Surround yourself with positivity. You can accomplish anything if you believe in yourself.”
