Lake Chelan Wedding | Josh & Ruby

23

Jul

How did these two meet?   They went to college together in Tulsa at ORU.  Ruby was on the same floor as Josh but in the sister wing.  One night  everyone from the entire floor was going to dinner at a local restaurant  to celebrate the birthday of a girl that lived on Ruby’s side.  Both “wing’s” were going to meet for dinner and celebrate!  Once Ruby and Josh met each other….they didn’t meet everyone from the floor…instead the two of them talked for the rest of the evening.  As they say….the rest is history.

Their wedding day….June 29, 2013 it was a perfect overcast day in Lake Chelan and Josh & Ruby’s wedding day!  They were married at Lake Chelan Riverwalk Pavilion.  I fell in love with these two when I met them several months ago and we photographed their engagement session.  They are so much in love and constantly smiling or giggling.  You can’t help but smile when you’re around them.

Their wedding day was a work of love with her mom creating a lot of the decorations, flowers and boutonnieres.  Dinner was homemade and the desserts were too.  The food was by far some of the best food I’ve had at a wedding and the Oreo cookies soaked in white chocolate for 3 days were delicious!

When I think back to their wedding day I smile and so does my heart.  There was so much love at their wedding surrounding them.  They remind me what true love looks like.  Their love inspires others around them!  They are two amazing people and together their love is magic.

Read below to learn more about their day and all the special moments that happened throughout the day.  There were so many special moments throughout the day that truly touched my heart.

I wish Josh and Ruby a lifetime of love, happiness and joy.

I loved this moment of Josh watching me photographing Ruby….I snuck this photo without him knowing.
Ruby waiting for their “First Look” while we get Josh to the location without them seeing each other.

They’re both behind the tree enough that they can’t see each other….and the count of three…a few steps forward….and magic begins.
Ruby’s gorgeous gown is from David’s Bridal.   She had her gown custom altered to her specifications creating a unique and beautiful design.
Notice how is swoops up in the front showing off her fabulous shoes?

Ruby and her four brothers who played a very important role in her wedding day….keep reading to find out how.
Let’s just say…there were moments when I photographed through tears…
because I was so touched by the love they have for each other.

I also love those father/daughter moments too.
After the pre-wedding photos were taken, Ruby disappeared and returned with her bridesmaids by boat. I love this photo below.  Ruby was waiting…knowing something very special that was about to take place.

Ruby is very close with each of her brothers who were staggered down the isle with her father waiting at the end.

Each one of her brothers walked her down the isle to the next brother….an then the next….. starting with her
youngest brother Jeremiah, then Kaleb, Nathan and her oldest Albert gave her hand to their father….
who walked her the rest of the way down the isle, gave her away and performed the ceremony.

With each step Ruby took…you could feel the love her brothers had for their sister…
and the love their sister had for them.  I don’t think there was a dry eye at the ceremony!

Each one of the brothers, as they walked behind their sister…had to get a little dust out of their eye 🙂Ruby’s mom did an amazing job making all the flowers, boutonnieres (out of cupcake wrappers), and decorations.  I love all the colors and the creativeness.
What a special gift and sentimental touch from her mother.
The dessert bar was delicious!  Everything was fantastic and made by family and friends.  Beautiful vibrant colors.
The Oreo’s had been soaked in white chocolate for three days before the wedding….they were yummy (everything was)!
Ruby’s parents…you can see the love. The cake was made by the groom’s mother and the broaches were family heirlooms.  The cake top was used during Josh’s parents wedding. The cake cutting knife was from Ruby’s parents wedding…and engraved on the other side for Ruby and Josh’s wedding.  What a special gift. The garter toss was great!  Josh put the garter on a football and tossed it to the guys!  There was one determined groomsman…and he caught it!Father & Daughter dance….one of my favorites.  Another special touch at the reception.  Each one of Ruby’s brother’s chose a special song that remind them of their sister.
I love how much they loved their sister and how much thought they put into making her day so special.
More tears snuck down my cheek throughout these dances.  These moments just melt your heart.
The mother/son dances are also such special moments. This little guy below was so determined to line dance.  He threw his little hands in the air and jumped right in.  He even got the leg kicks going! It’s official!  Congratulations Josh and Ruby!!!!  May you have a life filled with love, joy and happiness today and always.
