Their Story: Max & Skylar
Max & Skylar met at Starbucks. Here’s the story of how these two met, from Skylar. Me, one of the managers of a local woman’s clothing boutique- he, the barista at the Starbucks next door. I know it sounds like the start of a John Hughes movie- it felt like one.
I would come in, almost everyday, on my lunch and get my usual cinnamon dulce latte- always happy to make conversation with the cute blonde haired, blue eyed barista at the far end of the bar. I can’t remember exactly when I began noticing him, all I knew is he couldn’t be unseen once I did.
One day he looked up from making my drink and asking about my day, “I’m Max, by the way”. What came next depends on which one of us you ask: he says I was super smooth and calm, smiled and responded, “I’m Skylar.” I remember my stomach doing summersaults, terrified he wasn’t ACTUALLY talking to ME (since all I could her was my heartbeat in my ears). Then I managed to squeak out something resembling my name. We shook hands over the bar and that’s where it all began.
He began forgoing the usual writing of my name on the cup, replacing it instead with cute and flirtatious messages and drawn on hearts. Then, one day, Max says…”I’m getting ready to take a break, can I buy you a cup of coffee?” All I could think was ‘Oh my god say yes before he changes his mind’, “sure, I’d love that”.
We sat outside of Starbucks for what felt like forever and at the same time, felt like a second. I extended an invitation to come over…so we could hang out at a place outside of the shopping center we both worked in. We’ve been inseparable ever since. Six years later and I’m married to this wonderful man and having a little boy with that same cute, blonde haired, blue-eyed barista whom I now call my husband, and best friend.*
The Wedding
Max & Skylar were married at Beecher Hill House, located in Peshastin, WA. It was a beautiful summer day, and the house was buzzing with activity. The groomsmen were upstairs getting ready, while the bride & bridesmaids were having their hair & makeup down, and the venue was preparing for their wedding day. Skylar’s mom & sister helped her into her dress. After everyone was ready, it was time for Max & Skylar to have their “first-look” moment prior to the wedding. I love this moment. The anticipation of them seeing each other, having a private moment, and taking in all the joy of their wedding day as they prepare to spend their lives together.
Max stood waiting for Skylar, as she walked up behind him gently placing her hand on his shoulder. The anticipation and excitement was building. At the count of 1-2-3, Max turned around and saw Skylar for the first time on their wedding day. Those next 15 minutes, are magical, and organic. Everything unfolds naturally. I’m off to the side photographing every interaction between them, all unbeknownst to them. After they catch their breath, we transition to their pre-wedding day photos. We had so much fun! So many moments between the two of them. So much love. They had an amazing ceremony, dancing, food, cake, and more dancing. We snuck away for a few moments to have some photos taken with a vintage car that Skylar had borrowed for their wedding day, adding a little vintage feel.
Wishing them a lifetime of love, and happiness! Below are photos from their beautiful wedding day.
